Usually when I read a book, there is one trauma or maybe a almost trauma and that is it. For me, my trauma's were spread out over time and I always felt stupid reading veiled mentions of trauma in books and not being able to connect as much.
But in these books it is clearer, and I can connect, understand their pain and almost watch them heal. Which makes me aware of my own healing.
"I dreamed of my boyhood, and my father thrashing me so hard that I'd had to crawl away to my bed...he [his father] could still hurt me. Things could crawl at you out of the dark and hurt you again and again. The past did not always stay dead."
